I got this piece of turd as a low budget upgrade to my even more budget streaming rig. The C3 has so much self noise it makes the knockoff condenser mic that came with my $25 mic + stand + shock mount + pop filter kit (basically a cheapo bm800 clone, not even the legit bm800) sound miles better. This turd has high hiss output and basically requires you to shout into it for any DAW to capture anything above the noise. And I'm running it through a Behringer Mic500usb. No amount of tweaking can make it sound even remotely as low noise and clear as in this video. From what I've read in other reviews on Amazon, this amazing piece of turdnology works better with 15v of phantom power rather than the full 48. Best part is I can't even return it, since the store I've bought it from doesn't accept mics for returns (for sanitation reasons). I'll keep this semi expensive snake simulator in the box somewhere to remind me that I shouldn't 100% believe videos (as amazing and helpful as bandrew's content is), and I should definitely test audio gear personally before shelling out money for it.

I have one and wish I liked it more than I do. My main beefs are sensitivity and noise. It is not particularly sensitive for a condenser mic, which makes it a weak choice for recording speech. It seems a bit better for louder singing and instruments, but even still it seems to have a lot of intrinsic noise, even when I run it through the lowest noise preamps I have. It really is better to spend about the same for the Marantz MP1000, or save up for an AT2020.
That was my first condenser mic and still have it works like charm it has its own purpose in my studio and its very handy with the different polar patterns. Overall a nice little mic that does the job. Especially if you want that lo fi sound it's perfect for it.

I own 2 C3s. I use a pair of MLX 901s on stage (fed to monitor/foldback) and the C3s in fig8 for overheads or auditorium/audience presense (room reverb). Other reviewers suggest that the low cut is most useful for eliminating noise from fans and distant traffic, most of which is low frequency. The lower the frequency, the further sound (and radio) energy travels. A radio example is VLF (very low frequency) which the US Navy uses for world-wide communication. Incidently, VLF is believed to interfere with whale communication, which may be contributary to their extinction.
