I just finished reading this last month and I totally agree with taking it slow. After a 1-2 chapters I had that glaze over feel you were talking about! But totally agree really enjoyed this book and learned so much!

I read an excerpt from this book shortly after it came out and immediately bought it but still haven't gotten around to reading it. Maybe this will be my push!
Hi Rincey. Chernobyl was definitely predicted. The world, especially the US, knew that there would be a nuclear reactor disaster; people simply didn't know when or where. The movie the China Syndrome came out months before Chernobyl happened, so you can see that we knew someone's reactor somewhere was going to melt down. I know that animals in that area are flourishing, which I think is fantastic. I say leave it alone. Just leave it. I plan to read this one this year.
As a non fiction book, I would be more inclined to listen rather than read, but thats good to know. Living in europe during the time period, and having friends from Ukraine I am so intrigued by Chernobyl, and reason I loved the mini series.
I loved it too. And the miniseries! After I finished it I picked up Voices from Chernobyl by Svetlana Alexievich and it absolutely floored me. It focuses on the experiences of the people dealing with the aftermath, and told in their own words. Definitely worth picking up as a follow-up.
Please watch the miniseries, Chernobyl, if you haven’t yet. It’s a 6 part series and it did the book so much justice. It was absolutely incredible.
