Avira saved me today from trojan and malware. I wanted to download something, and avira found 251 suspicious files from the same file.
You have to go into folder options and turn off "Hide protected Operating System Files" or just run dir /a in cmd
have had some bloatware or more painful scamware stuff in the past downloads avira, doesn't really seem to notice scamware but occasionally complains about potential viruses. think more recent windows or maybe just the internet is a lot more safe in the past ~15 years compared to earlier though. but it mostly seem to occasionally install bloatware.

#Thanks for this kind of information it is very useful. Keep it up. trapped these types of strange "invisible" files in my Sandboxie Sandbox. They can't be deleted. But you can blow the directory they are in away in safe mode using "rd /s" from command prompt. Sometimes attrib will bring them up too. As my Kaspersky anti-ransomeware isn't playing well with Sandboxie I've been using the Qihoo 360 sandbox instead. I'd love to see a new test on Qihoo 360 total security, especially with the malware executed in the sandbox. Qihoo recently dropped the bitdefender engine and is using some home grown Chinese engine now I'd love to know how it fares in your test.
Avira is a VIRUS! It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove from your computer. I have worked for days trying to remove this SHIT program!
Does anyone here knows what bloatware to remove from Avira besides opera? I just wanted that one avira no BS AV software just like before. you can't just ask one thing for free, without shoving you things you don't wan't and need now a days.
Avira is the most destructive AV I've ever used. It deletes program files (false positive of course)thousands of them! Made 4 of my crucial apps unusable (need to uninstall and reinstall). Worst part is I'm not the only one with the issue, you can check the support page and you'll see plenty others have been suffering the same thing. The link to the Avira support page: like free avira but never trust the default settings out of the box ! Low detection rate of zero day exploits , it doesn't scan all files or go into compressed archives that deep . I don't let it follow links ( seen it get stuck in a big loop in the past ) . All can be tweaked but I keep adwcleaner on the desktop .
Only down thing with Avira is the fact they've partnered up with Auslogics (that makes Boostspeed) The company Auslogics does have a shady background so hopefully it don't come back to bite Avira on ass at some point

6:09 Did you try typing the exact path in the window and see if it opens? I've had to do that with a couple things and I have no idea why they don't show up otherwise. The only other way I could see them was exploring the folder with command prompt pre-boot up.
