Have them for almost 2 years.
While the earphones are great sounding, the cable is just terrible, became too stiff and broke in less than one year. And God knows if this second one will make it.
Had to replace it, which is not a problem, but if I have to buy cables every year, that ain't good. In a few years it will cost more than more than the new e70, if I'm forced to do that.
Sound on the other hand is just great.Takes time to find the best eartips and to make them stay in ears, but after that, you are ready to rock.
I use them in studio and also for music via dap players. With 12 Ohms, no need for much juice to turn them to beast mode.
Purchased my E40 few days ago and returned them unfortunately. I love Audio Technica, but those earphones were so difficult to listen, my head hurts every time I had them longer than 5 minutes.
I love content rich at 1khz, but E40 have some bump there they are very difficult to listen. Overall flat frequency curve but that bump around 800-900 hz is unbearable. I am so sorry I needed return them.
Easy to shake off while playing drum
Not comfortable
my right ear one is super quiet
Yesterday I listened to both, E40 and E70. There was so little difference in 2 minutes I spent at the store. I did not listen longer for a purpose, because if there is a difference you will clearly hear it in just few seconds. If you need to spend more than 2 minutes then you are searching for something that does not cost 4 times as much.
I watched many videos with reviewers saying how with E70 you hear if the drummer farts in the middle of the solo, well I am a professional musician and sound engineer and whenever I hear this kind of thing I know there is a lot of mumbo jumbo and not really objective and scientific approach.
Both have 2db notch at 550 hz and 2.7 khz so they are not really flat, but they are close. The bass and highs are very conservative while being relatively flat, not bad but not much better than my 8 Dolars QuadBeats.
I bought E40 in the end, while 400 Euro E70 seemed like too much for this kind of sound. E50 were more comfortable for my ears, but they sounded the same and again the price was too high for what I get so I decided that E40 were good.
For everyone thinking about those 3, do not believe the hype, go and listen to yourself, there is very little difference between them.
Should I go for the old IM50 or the E40? How does the bass compare between the two? Thank you.
You NEED to start putting Amazon Affiliate Links in your description of all the items that are in your videos. It can be a HUMONGOUS source of income depending my dude.
I quite like the sound of the e40 ( its my first iem) but im wondering what to upgrade to in the future in the 250-300$ range im mainly a gamer and a movie watcher and want absolute quality sound
I listen to random earphone/headphone review, then I realize why the fuck do I even care, I have Nuraphone. :-|
Love our videos btw, always bought my previous Audio Technica's making sure I see the review
I still have that same md player somewhere in closets xD
Jackass what is your source your using? E70 unforgiving so if you listen on crap u get crap back.
E70 best under $1000
Which one is the best option for deep bass?
Hey Lachlan, how do the E40s compare to the GR07, and sound and build. They do sell for almost the same price.
how is ath-40 and ath-70 compare to DUNU DN-2002?
So the e40 sounds like the m50x?
i gave my ostrys to my gf and kept the ath e40 for myself :D
How are the ATH E40's compared to the Shure SE215?
The MiniDisk players were amazing. I miss them SO much, but the space on the disks themselves just can't beat today's hard drives or SD cards.
what audio technica earphones would you recommend for vocals?
Can you review RHA MA750i sometime? Please and thanks.
Yes finally there is an review by an Audiophile.
How would the E70 compare to the Shure SE535? Looking for new IEMs as my Shure SE215 are dying.
How's ath e50
I am thinking about E40 for my live playing, however I have problem with those hard wires that go behind the ears, always hard to fix and make them stay in my ear. Do I just need some time to adapt, or to watch somewhere else for a regular earphones, CKR70 for exmaple?
thank you so much for the video
I really liked the ATH-IM50, how does the ATH-E40 compare to those?
Hello greetings fron the old continent I am a new subscriber, what do you think about the Shure 215 vs those audio thecnica? Which one would be better to get? Or do you know something better for hi fi music under 100 euros?
Ear wax bleah... that’s gross
No way mate. Is because you, Chinese people have small ears. I tested them and I cannot feel them. However I want to go wireless. I plan to buy those huge 50 hours heavy buds (buts).
Oh now I realized you are Chinese. Good English mate. Hey fuck Australia man you don’t need to talk like that. Is a garbage place.
These ones or the senheiser ie 40 pro?
I only buy these headphones now. (They don’t break I’ve just lost a couple and my dog has chewed up a pair). Anyone that I’ve recommended them to has purchased them as well and loves them too. Will continue o buy theses. Amazing quality for any price, www.amazon.com/dp/B07YHK7CLX
Thanks for the review. If I may offer some constructive criticism, I’d love to see you stay more on point. Also might be a good idea to get to the review immediately instead of making us have to wait well into two minutes. Thanks for putting this out!
Did you figure out the website for the fake sony hybrid?
Got the ls50 earphones, also didnt like the eartips at first, also bought those sony eartips and believe me they make the earphones sound like complete crap, so muffled. With original eartips they sound so much better, way crispier. Dont waste money on sony tips if u got ls50.
is he saying that saxs sound bad with this iem?
Very informative. Thank you. A little positive criticism....this video DRAGS hard. I'm interested in t he subject but not everything you say is interesting, you repeat information often and your voice delivery is very subdued as it is. You would need to edit, just a minimal amount but that would make a huge improvement in all your videos, and show your viewer you've taken care to review your spontaneous dialogue, to confirm you can get through your own video without falling asleep. Surely you should be able to sit through your ENTIRE video if you expect an audience to sit through that much spontaneous technical review information. My eyes just glazed over waiting for the next sentence
I thought the video said e40 and e50. I was wondering why you keep talking about ls50.
Shouldn't it be 'does lachlan like this thing'?
I was almost set on this headphone and was ready to buy them. But i saw that they had only 12 ohms. I dont know that much about audio. But i've read that less ohms means headphones will have less clarity in sound and that they will be more prone to blowing.
Should i be worried about 12ohms ? I would like them to last at 3-5 years. Im using them on phone only and i usually take care of headphones . So only thing that i worry about is how long earbuds will last.
how is e40 compare to seinheizer momentum ?
you have to stop moving the earbuds when you're talking, it looks like the world's most boring puppet show
why didn't you ever compare the m40x's with sony mdr1a pads vs the m50x. I think you'd like the combination a lot.
Thanks for this review !
Which from the 3 is close sounding to the ATH M40x.. in your opinion ?!
I listened to E50 today as they did not have E40 in the store, well I was not very happy with the sound. They are relatively natural, however there is some strange notch at 200 to 300 hertz, not really sure what is happening. I expected them to sound better for this price, but maybe I should try different tips. I will try to find E40 and listen to those, however not sure they will sound good enough if E50 were like this.
Went through a high end headphone shop in Tokyo and tried most of the similar price range in ears phones. These stood out to me over all the others, like you said it was the bass and the volume was crisp. Unfortunately they got stolen a few months ago. The only way to get over the loss is to upgrade... right? Thinking e70 but hmmm
I got the E40 and I really like them! The sound stage is a lot bigger then I expected from a pair of IEMs (mostly use on/over ears otherwise). The tips are great in that you get a lot of sizes and they fit comfortably BUT they let through some sharp high end that makes them less ideal for me as a hard hitting drummer. I've had to use other headphones over these while tracking (and that works ok) but have now bought some 3d party foam tips now that I will try out...
Are the e70 have more bass than the e50 ?
Is the e40 good for metal and how's the sound stage?
I should add the quality jump from 40s to 50s, its negative. 😞 At least for me. Observed a considerable decrease in detail towards the higher end. It was so evident that I just switched back to the 40s. Don't have a 70 yet. So can't comment. But if you are looking for an upgrade, don't go from 40s to 50s.
2.5 years later same price 😒
im into hip hop and grime music instrumentals and also do my own music with logic pro x.
i already have monitoring headphones for my music.
im after some in ear on the go headphones that will be nice and loud and bass is good.
is bluetooth louder than cable? because my bluetooth headset is louder in bt mode than in cable mode so im just wondering would it be same if i bought bluetooth in ears? or would it be better to buy cable headphones and have a portable amp with my phone?
Between shure se 215-spe and ath e40 wich has more low end ???
(Need IEM to djing)
E70 better than se846 and other iem well over $1000
E70. Is. Awesome!
I just got a 1more triple driver and here i am looking at some iem’s, this is not a good sign. But i do love negative profile ones.
E50 is at the territory of RHA t20i though, so that would not be an easy decision. You have pinnacle p1 also. Both tend to be lower than 200 at times
@Performer Magazine they could easily charge $2,000 for the e70 and I would still be amazed. Whats your source, genre and are you using flac files?
hm, interesting. what would you choose between LS70 and E50?
i have the ath-e40, it dont fit my ear very well, are ath-e50 more compact, do they fit better the ear? thanks
if you have ever had the nightmare of trying to replace the shure 215 cable, the fact that you removed that cable so easily immediately sold me!!!
ah, ah alot
Do you know how they compare with the Sennheiser Momentum in-ear, Shure, and Beyerdynamic in the $100-200 price range?
hello. very interesting review. thanks for sharing all your thoughts. I'm not a music creator, but a music lover traveling almost all my time as for work and for the family. I need earbuds because they are just tiny and comfortable. Would you recommend me the "ath e70" for music listening as my main equipment on the road as a long term investment? Thank you.
