Im trying to get into pc gaming, is this part good for it? Also what peaces will i need, because im trying to build my own pc, please reply if u have the answer.
check out rendering out animations with four GPU packed video cards.
What CPU would you recommend to take full advantage for two graphics cards in SLI @ 16X16....?
ASUS has not provided a BIOS update for the Z170- WS mobo to allow 7th Gen Kaby Lake processor use. Calls to ASUS fall on deaf ears. They HAVE offered it for DOZENS of other mobos. Be aware of this if you are considering upgrading from Sky Lake to Kaby Lake !! This is certainly a slap in the face for such a premium mobo. ASUS please comment !!!
Someone should copyright strike this for shitz and giggles.
I want to get this board but hearing a lot of bad reviews online about it. Blowing up SSd's crashing windows 10, defective, problems with the suite, reporting wrong temps...
This will probably determine which motherboard I purchase...Deos the Asus Z170WS have the PLX bridge chip for 16X16 on dual GPU's?
Hey wens. I got some kind of silly question but i really like if i could get to know the answer, so here we go:
Can i hook GPU, 1x PCIe SSD as add-in card, 2x M.2 with Raid 0, and NVMe via U.2 all together to this board or in Z170 particular?
So how PCIe lane's config?
GPU (x4), PCIe SSD (4x), 2x M.2 with Raid 0 (x2/each), NVMe via U.2 (X4)
Am i right?
thank you for the overview on the z170-ws.
wish you had more to say about the PLX/PEX8747 implementation on this board..
I don't know if Wendell will answer but would you recommend ASRock or SuperMicro mobo's for a FreeNAS?, I've seen your ASR videos but apparently SuperMicro is supported fairly well with FreeNAS
Great review! To the point and relevant info. Answers all the questions I had. This is the best motherboard ive ever seen in my 20+ years computer building experience.
Do you have to use the switch to enable XMP or can you enable and disable it in the UEFI too?
God board. WAANNNNNT!
Linux workstation please!!!!! :)
That flicker at 9:30 lol
I'm still using a P67 WS Rev 3 board. I haven't had a legitimate reason to upgrade in years. The level of engineering they put into the WS line is outstanding.
great overview!! i got some slight video stutter on the vid
If you looking for a proper ws board then get the asus x99 e ws, it's a monster of a boards with a 5960x it kills anything out here, packed with lots of features.... Check it out
So let me get this straight - even though I have 16 PCI-E lanes supported by the CPU, with this board I can have 2 PCI-E 3.0 x 16 video cards?
I like your presentation but that BG music loop is crazy-making. I stopped watching. Even listenable music needs to be 12-20dB below the narration (at least in the mid frequencies) to keep from being distracting.
Want to rebuild your system with i7- 6700k for graphic worc, 3D render and could not understand where 32 line PCI? Now everything is clear)))
Good job, friend! Thanks
Hey guys. Wondering what seq speed scores you guys running M.2 raid are getting? I max out at 3200 mb/s with two SM961 drives. Shouldnt I be getting double that? Thanks.
Hello Perfect thanks
Usb keyboard mouse does not work while installing windows 7 on this motherboard.
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Its a Workstation ergo you would be using this for work, Blender, Max and Maya rendering so you WANT more then two GPUS. This board was built for multi GPU's ... on purpose! Other then that you dial in the chips very well. Great info on the existing hardware even thou the slant is to gaming only.
Subbed and liked. Thank you for your review. I found it far more informative then others of the like especially compared to the more viewed one in the results tab, maybe because I heard less Wendal nerd talk (aka over my head shit) and I could relate to this better. So im seeking greatness in the component I recently picked. (i-7 7700 kaby lake processor). I was thinking of getting this board, but I see that there are z270 boards available. I guess what caused me to gravitate towards this board was the x16 x16 for both my 1080ti's with hb bridge vs x8 x8 of other boards. Upon review of specs of the other boards, is this the board I should get? or are there other boards you would recommend at time of this post,? I get there is a cost difference between the boards, but to me personally it's negligible as price point is not a factor for the motherboard component. I just want the best board for my 1151 i-7-7700 kaby lake processor. Any reply from anybody with real knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated especially if it came from the video author, thank you.
the board is made for Xean CPUs in mind because intel remove the compatibility with Z170 motherboards.

Maybe it's just me, as I do have hearing issues, but I really wish you guys would lose the distracting music when you are giving informative videos. Especially as soft-spoken as you are, the music really makes it hard to hear what your are saying. From all the likes, I'm assuming this video would have a lot of good info.
where do you get the wallpaper that is on your display?
I would get this board so fast if it wasn't sooo damn expensive.
No I/O cover....
This is how to review motherboard people
Speedy comprehensive review. Music background is HIDEOUS !
Great Video! love the intro! lol Sure is dusty for a new motherboard!
Great reviews man! Might want to turn down the music a bit while you're talking. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, this video finally answered my questions about the distribution of PCI Express lanes at a more in-depth/clear & concise level. I'm looking at it for a no-comprise Z170 solution for my newest build, and now I'm confident I can run dual M.2 SSDs with dual GPUs and still use the PCI-E x4 slot without neutering lanes.
I have a quick question for you. I'm going to invest in one of these boards, and I was looking at processors, and I ran across an Intel processor that stated it would only work on 300 series boards.
Would that processor work with this board, or will I have to get a different one? This is the specs on the processor.

Such a nice motherboard, I just finished a build with this bad boy.

I got this MoBo for $70 :D
Is this board compatable with the i5 6700k?
does this motherboared have wifi adaptor build inside ?
"I7 6600k", yup, that exists rn I promise
This motherboard works with nvidia gtx 1070 and intel icore 6700k right?
i'm in love with this mobo and is at a good price... got me excited about building PCs again. cant wait to get it.
How many fans can this mother board support.
I have this same board and was wondering if I could add a m.2 drive and still use my sata ssd drive?
i have a 1080p 144hz monitor, will that still function at 144hz?
good for overclocking?
can the dvi display 1440p 144hz?
Can i use amd processor on this motherboard?
Hm, looking at this, i'm wondering if i got a defective/damaged board when i bought mine a few years ago. My GPU has failed, and need to remove it, but i don't see the latch at the end of the top pcie-16 slot on the top side, if i remember correctly, it was only on the underside, and i'm using a dual width card, not sure how i'm gonna get it out without destroying the board.
Ryzen 5 2600x
Gtx 1050 ti 4gt
16 gb ram DDR4
Would this fit perfect with this motherboard?
I have a question for you. I purchased one of these boards and it came with two DDR4 four Gig sticks of memory running at 3000 Mhz. I already have two DDR4 four Gig sticks of memory running at 2400 Mhz.
Will these memory sticks work together? And if so will they run at 2400 Mhz? Or are they compatible at all?
The 2400 Mhz runs at 1.2 volts, and the 3000 Mhz runs at 1.35 volts. I know it's an odd question, but I don't know a lot about these different types of memory.
Thanks for the input.
I wanna buy this but before I do may I ask if it will be compatible with an i5 6600K, gtx 1060, 2x6gb ddr4 3000 Mhz rams and any SSD? Thanks in advance
Not best motherboard broker after 10months

I feel like this guy is completely disappointed in this motherboard. Dude needs to chill hell out and appreciate that he probably got this board for free and it's an amazing piece of technology that many of us are buying as an upgrade.
I just bought this board as an upgrade for my ASUS P7P55-LX I bought in 2010
Hey can you help me? I have this mother board but I have the Nzxt s340 case which doesn't have a optical drive slot. I checked the website for the driver download but I don't know which to download. Please help!!!
