After getting my ASUS RT-AC5300, my previous netgear repeaters would work intermittently and I needed something that would give me better wifi signal to the devices✰✰>imgs.love/Asus900?рД I have outdoors. This repeater solved all my problems and then some! It was easy to set up, and I also added powerline adapters between it and the router to create an ethernet backbone to give better data throughput. Having both the one repeater and router provides great coverage for my 2 story 2400 sqft home, basement and backyard. Very happy with the product!!

Hi Joel. I have set this same model router up in several houses that have three floors. Preferably you can put it on the second floor and you should get coverage. The homes I have used it in had good signal throughout, though construction materials can affect signal quality.
Hello I stay in a 3 storey house and I plan to use this router to send up signals up to the 3rd floor of my house. Is this router good enough to have a wide signal?
My question is can I play on the ps4 while people in my house are using the wifi, would the router pick which band they go into?
So if im playing call of duty for example on the xbox and someone in my house is streaming videos, will this router stop lag on the xbox when someone else is streaming as there is two different signals? I recently bought a new Samsung Smart TV and replaced my old Linksys router with this ASUS model.  Works fine for the Smart TV but has really bad range past about the middle of my one story house (about 30 feet),  Kindle Fire either drops or cannot authorize or connect.  House was built in 1938 so I realize there could be wall material issue..still doesn't explain why my old, cheaper router had no problem with the same range.  But anyway...could the unit be defective?  If not...would a range extender solve my problem without impacting/interfering with the speed needed for the SMART TV?  Thanks

random question. I've read in forums that mention using a wireless media bridge to overcome playstation 3's wireless G wireless adapter. I have a spare DGL-4500 router that I can't use because it had connectivity issues with my brother's ps2. So, I have a rt-n66u coming tomorrow, and I was curious if I could use the DGL-4500 in lieu of having to purchase a DBN wireless N media bridge.
I'm wanting to run about 25 feet of N male to SMA (connection to WiFi antenna ports) to ceiling mounted CSS antenna(s). The issue is I don't know the function of each antenna, different band? Receive diversity? Basically I'm trying to figure out if I can combine all 3 outputs to a 3 way split to my antenna OR do I need to run 3 separate 25 foor coax lines with 3 antennas ceiling mounted.

@AsusRog Hey guys, quick question. can this unit run as both a bridge and an access point like the EA-N66? my dad has seemed against updating our all in one Thompson unit from hell and I'm sick of it dropping my connection it's a Modem, 4 port 10/100 router, b/g wifi. I would like to move the wifi off it to a EA-N66 and have the N66U in my room as a bridge/repeater. using cables for the new computer, xbox 360, ps2 and wii. Whilst boosting wifi to the rest of the house. could this do it?

Hi, a couple of questions. Do you have a link to the High-Performance external antenna you show in the video ? If I choose to use such an antenna, whould I be needing 3 or just one ? Should I replace one of the standard antennas with this one, and keep the 2 others ? Regarding being unable to connect to the external IP, has this been fixed in the 112 firmware ? I have a couple of webservers, and I need to be able to reach them on their DNS names which resolves to the external IP address.

Cisco 4200 was unstable and bad so bought Nrt56u which was 5/5 + Star and dont know if really need to upegrade this one for now
I tried the 4200 router, and went through 3 of them before I went to netgear. went to 3 different stores.. could not make either work. The net gears, had 2 consecutive bad. Finally just went back to my WRT-54G. Works great. Now I am trying this unit. Since CISCO got away from external antennas, I will never go back to them.

I currently own this router and love it. I run WRTMerlin and have for probably 3 years with no issue. I want to upgrade to 802.11AC but this router is just so good I don't think the upgrade would be worth it aside from some possible extra range.

Thanks for the quick reply. bsnl did offer me a a standard modem, but since i wanted wifi they suggested me an adsl2+ modem & i'm using it right now. So just to confirm. Phoneline>Adsl2+ router>Ethernet cable> Wan port on standard router. And then connect to the standard modem(not adsl one). Correct? And it seems that wan routers are better than adsl ones... If yes, then how?

I was interested in upgrade, however now that new crop of 802.11ac devices are approaching, I have decided to hold back on my investments. For now I will continue with my N13U B1. It's stressed but I think I will hold for next 6 months. Rumour is new MBA is going to come with 802.11ac so it will be a great boost for new standard. Soon you will be able to buy PCI cards/usb adapters for that speed. HOLD your WIFI purchases for 6 months!
