I got this kind of adapter the one with only 2 pieces to attach. It is like a tube cut in half. Is it good?

2 things that I’ve learned in my 37 years never trust a guy to work on a bike who wears latex gloves or at least gloves that don’t fit or a guy who takes the face of the stem all the way off to put bars on

Why can’t I find a 1 1/8 inch (28.6 mm) quill stem ? My project has come to a complete halt because of this issue. Is there a bicycle store where you live that has one of what I’m looking for ? Thank you
what did you do to the front brakes?
Mechanically it would have been better/safer to cut the adapter shorter. (At the same angle as previously). As now you are clamping against a sloping surface and smaller diameter. A good jolt and the wedge can work itself to the upper portions of the steerer tube with the larger diameter. Meaning your handlebars will be loose. Good show either way.

you unscrewed the quill too much you're only supposed to losen it so the expansion of the two pieces that tighten the quill in place reduces so you can pull the quill out from the frame no good making tutorials if you don't actually know what you're doing lol
At this point at 3:15 all you had to do was take a mallet/hammer and tap down on the stem bolt to unstick the wedge nut.

I believe that the"upgrade" from 25.4 to 31.8mm is a logical evolution. But the movement 35 mm is a bit illogical.

I have a 26 inch Mongoose Sector (2006 year model) I'm thinking about upgrading the front fork on it. Right now it has a Mozo Vibe R on it. I'm a newbie to the MTB world. Is it a good fork? If not what would be a good upgrade for it? I like the bike but I've gained weight since I bought it and I want to use it for getting back into some form of shape besides "pear" or "ball". Thanks for any help you can offer.

I understand that you would need a new handlebar if you wanted it wider but if you just wanted to lower it you could have switched a spacer from the bottom of the headset to be on top of the original bars couldn't you?
