If the torx bit doesn’t work, I found that a flathead also works extremely well, if not better for some cases. I didn’t have a torx bit big enough, so I hammered in a flat head and it worked first try

Umm... Pound a 12 point socket (or 8 point if you have them) over the head? Surprised you missed that. Not everyone has triple square sockets and some hex sizes are very close to both the sae and the metric torx bits, so the larger ones are just too big unless you drill it out.

No useful info for me. I have one single small screw with flat head. I can't grab it's head with any wrench, can't cut it , i don't have welder and definetly i won't buy special set only for single screw.
Good advice here. Recently had a 5mm button head cap screw that someone put excessive red loctite on the thread. Tried several methods and ended up cutting off parts of the button head with a grinding wheel to make flats so that I could finally remove with vice grips.
I’m stuck trying to remove my Oil cooler on a Dodge 2012 Challenger SRT8. After removing the oil filter the cooler is just one adapter and two hoses attached to the engine block. I did the horse but the “adapter” (for lack of the actual term) is stripped. I look it up & seen it removed with a 12mm Hex bit with rachet & extension. Well after finding no place around with a 12mm I then bought a 13mm & filed it down…….Incorrect obviously bcuz now it fits but it has stripped the inside of this last piece holding my oil cooler to the block. What can I do? I was thinking a emergency lug nut remover or maybe cutting a slot into the exposed area where the oil filter attaches with thread like for screws and then using a flat head try turning the “adapter@ till removed. But I’m definitely not experienced in this. Any constructive suggestions ? Thank you.
