I got a mini as a small drawing pad for college
I just got mine a few days ago and I love it I got the pink one 256 gb with cellular data it’s the first iPad I’ve ever owned and it’s the best
I use mine for notes lol, I just wanted it to be small
Had a laugh to myself when you said people who buy iPad minis already know what they are going to use them for, as I feel that is a very true statement. I have 2 daughters 8 and 4 and I have found the minis to be amazing for their little hands, they are don’t take up too much room in MY bag ( god forbid they go in their backpacks lol) and lastly I love the 256GB option. So much in such a small package have minis for past 5 years Great review

I've been using ipad mini since inception. For me the key features are: - kids, you don't want something super big that either overpowers kids of just cracks easily - you want bigger screen with you when on the plane - you don't want to pull out a massive screen that would be like a laptop - if you're going on some short trip but don't need to drag a laptop with you All in all I would classify mini as "not every day" tablet - why get a large brick that you dread to take with you, easy to store, robust middle ground between phone and laptop. Edit: forgot about drone use :) it's way better to pilot a drone with larger screen, while not having to drag a large PRObrick with you.
Pilots have to the the primary consumer for the mini. We use them as an electronic flight bag, flight planning, and situational awareness in the cockpit. I've been loving my new mini 6 over my previous mini 4. They should probably just change the name to iPad aviator's edition.
as an looking at this at full interesti could make this as my digital sketch! i could draw anywhere if i got my inspiration! the small form factor would be soooooooooooooooo convenient.
I work as a behavioral therapist with kids on the autism spectrum and I use it to record data and visuals for my students. iPhone is too small and an iPad is too big to carry around while blocking behaviors and taking data so the mini is perfect
I have an older car (2006 Audi RS4 Cabrio) with a very basic infotainment sat nav system and I didn't want to get an aftermarket stereo so this was perfect for me as I could the cellular model in the car for navigation and music streaming and then take it away with me and use it as very usable tablet to use in bed instead of using a MacBook Pro like I used to
@1:55 They should have just put the pencil charging area on the other side and left the buttons where they were. Easier to take pictures in the field for mobile technicians.
The reason why the volume buttons are on top is because normally the volume buttons on other iPads is right next to the turn off button like on iPad Pro and next to it there is the Apple Pencil magnet, but since the Apple Pencil is almost the size of the iPad mini, they didn’t have any space for the volume button so they put it on top.(this is my thought of what they did so this is not canon) :)
i have a bigger pro and a mini. it’s so akward carrying a big 12 inch device around. but the ipad mini is perfect for that. i still love the pro but i hope they make a 120hz version of the mini like a ipad pro but with the mini size.
its literally a fucking phone and on front that think 1999s bezzels just kills me just smaller then a phone and why do you call it a tablet ugh, still i like my ipad air 3 and wont upgrade it :)
I'm the same way, our managers at work used iPad mini for viewing schedules and doing quick-tap operations on the fly, but the employees on the floor would use standard iPads for our inventory and transactional operations. I couldn't picture using such a small screen at the time. When COVID hit, I switched to working at home. After Apple released the very impressive M1 Pro MBP, I found myself using my iPad for less and less work, and more and more casual things. When I took a good look at the package, I realized I had spent like $1500 on an iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard, but every time I wanted to use the iPad, I was pulling it off the keyboard and just holding it to watch YouTube or surfing the web. Basically, I swapped to this iPad mini as it got the 2nd gen Pencil support and the expanded display. It's been an absolute delight. I actually WANT to pick it up around the house and move it. From the bedroom watching Twitch streams to the kitchen pulling up recipe apps to my desk for sketching, it's a great size. Top that off with the massive cost savings? Huge win. I honestly wouldn't mind if Apple released a more cramped and smaller keyboard case for this, just for the cases where I'd want to type up a pile of notes on the go.

I have refused to buy any Apple products, but there are currently no good small Android tablets for gaming (ie Genshin Impact and CODM). Might finally have to break down and get one.
I'll be drawing and since I'm on a working holiday visa, I'll probably be moving a lot so I need something portable and the mini is really light too.

I use mine as an e-reader. It’s perfect. I also do a lot of writing and it’s great with Pencil.
The mistake Apple made was starting the iPad mini with 64 go instead of 128 gb Jelly scroll and 500 nits instead of 700 nits
Excellent, down to earth review (> and once more DEF YES. The iPad mini is almost like a GIANT iphone and that is what I'd like. Can't have that so this can fit that bill (and still be a sort of small content able / vid call or quick vid meeting sort of device that's lots easier to manage than on a simple mobile). Good stuff.

Just bought my iPad Mini 6 this evening. I have an iPhone 12 Pro and MacBook Air M1 so I think this will fit right in the middle (as you’ve stated in your review). I’m definitely looking at it serving as my media outlet when I’m chilling in bed or on the couch. Netflix, Disney+, social media or browsing the web etc to give my iPhone a break from always being used for YouTube, Twitch and the other streaming services and I’ll definitely get some note taking in with the Apple Pencil 2. Definitely excited to receive it.

i'm getting one of these soon. i used to have an old 3rd gen ipad, which was great, but even as i grew it was just too big and heavy for me. i know the new ipads are lighter and thinner now but the overall footprint is basically the same and isnt a device i feel comfortable tossing into a bag or carrying in one hand. i recently got an old 2nd gen mini off of ebay for cheap to try out, and needless to say, i love the form factor. i can be so much more productive with it than i can with my phone, but still have the portability and convivence of something smaller than my laptop. not to mention that it actually fits into my baggy sweatpants pockets. and since it has the newest, insanely powerful A15 chip, i have no doubt that this tablet will last be a very very long time.

4:22 I DO THIS (but please stop playing into the notion that the Mini is just for calls and texting. It’s literally a supreme phone just smaller). I use my iPad mini on my train commute to work for reading the news, listening to music, and watching videos and iTunes downloads.
I do NOT like that they made the screen taller and narrower. iOS is better when it’s wider. Stop making your devices taller when your OS doesn’t play into it well.
For me it’s the end of me buying iPads. I knew this day was coming eventually, after years of Apple steadily increasing prices, they’ve finally made it too expensive and I won’t be buying a new iPad again. I mean are you really gonna charge £619 for an iPad with 256GB? I’d rather spend my money buying a gaming laptop or 5 cheap notebook laptops (which is the equivalent price for this).

Why would anyone buy this? Its minutely larger than most phones. I get it. It looks cute. But in my opinion, this form factor doesn't appeal to any usercase.
2 things have just put me off buying this, the screen not being OLED and the refresh rate not being 120hz. I wanted a small iPad for travel but maybe not…
I bought one as an e-reader for uni books, papers, and research material, add the pencil for notes and that is all I wanted so this is the perfect one-hand device.
Dave2D vibes with the best quirks like front cam, and emphasise the essential like illustrator experience. I had a illustrator make the decision switch and she considers it to be one of the most essential decisions in her career.

Very informative video - thumbs up! I have the 2016 iPad Pro and this is almost the same screen size, I also like the new camera upgrades as I am visually impaired and use the higher resolution back camera a lot to scan and enlarge things. The cameras on the iPad 9th gen are a bit weak IMO.
nah man! I am using this ipad for sculpting and painting while I am in the train going to work and the size of this Ipad mini is perfect , and no lag or latency issues at all, works great!

Really like mine. 64GB and 5G is what I went with and I’m quite happy. I stream and backup everything in the cloud so it’s enough for me.
I definitely prefer the IPad mini for drawing it’s the same size as all the sketchbooks I used before drawing on digital. Not all artist prefer the biggest canvas possible. Seeing that not all painters are muralists. The 60hz vs 120hz with drawing I personally don’t think is a huge difference. The experience difference is absolutely not worth an extra $200-$300 unless you like a larger canvas. Imo there’s a point within drawing latency that only cameras can truly see. When you’re really drawing focused on line shape form value etc you definitely will barely notice. I’d even argue if you upgraded you’d may be a bit disappointed on how slight of a difference it makes. It’s not night and day how one would expect.
Honestly as an artist 60 or 120 hz doesn't really do much since you draw and immersed into drawing you forgot about the so called high refresh rate
tbh the people who game on 30-60 hz are the pros and the ppl who play on 120hz suck balls(laws of nature)
