Very interesting video Jeff but you take a very bad example as well. I'm not really fond of gainers and I prefer to take some good proteins but I have to say that a few brands make really important efforts to develop good gainer. Just have a look on Reflex Nutrition (UK). They really sell gainers based on a good composition. However, gaining mass fast is totally irrelevant regarding biology and physiology sciences.

Not every mass gainer is that bad, I packed on a lot of size using ON serious mass mixed in with some whole milk, peanut butter, and sometimes oats. It makes for a hell of a protein shake that is both calorie dense and easy to digest. Gained ~20lbs of muscle (with a small amount of fat).
