The angled dock doesn't have any guides on the side, because its designed to charge your phone when its resting both upright and horizontally on the dock. Guides would stop you being able to put your phone on horizontally

I have the charging stand and I can't figure it out. Whenever I place my ipad on it, it keeps flashing blue indicating metal objects but I remove any metal objects but it's still doing it. It seems to work for my phone but not for my ipad and I need it to work for my ipad.
