Textbooks for quantum, statistical mechanics and quantum information!
Introduction to Statistical Thermodynamics
Introduction to Statistical Mechanics #Physical Interpretation by IITian Sathi Das
Great recommendations. Two more I found useful, at the Auletta level:Thomas Banks, Quantum Mechanics: An Introduction. A big advantage of this book is that it incorporates recent discoveries that can be handled at the introductory level and also concentrates on deriving results without really solving for wave functions. You'd be surprised how much of atomic and molecular physics follows purely from operator theory for the algebra of observables. It also has quite a detailed discussion of measurement.Arno Bohm, Quantum Mechanics: Foundations and Applications, 3rd Edition. A big advantage of this book is that it's quite connected to experimental implementation of the quantum formalism.I'd also recommend having a read through of Peierls' "Surprises in Theoretical Physics" and its sequel "More Surprises in Theoretical Physics" for interesting counter intuitive quantum phenomena and puzzles. Also along these lines is "The Quantum Challenge" 2nd Edition by Greenstein and Zajonc. It was from the latter that I learned that in a successful fission reaction the spatial wave function of an incident neutron is much wider than the target nucleus, so that if you did a position measurement it would miss the nucleus >99% of the time and so in fact a position measurement would shut off the reaction! Spoiling the picture of a neutron "hitting the nucleus". These are quick reads for fun factoids.
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion ( ) or The Protocols of the Meetings of the Learned Elders of Zion
Which mathematical physics books I should read with quantum mechanics course
Focus more on mathematics. Physics is good for application but it hardly gives any insight into the ultimate reality of existence . studying the relations between two or more phenomena, which is the study field of physics, don't reveal the nature of things in themselves, while in mathematics the relation proper is what is sought after in order to have the nature of numbers revealed.
These are some solid textbooks. Thank you for the valuable video.
Excellent books
"Quantum Mechanics: Foundations and Applications" by Arno BohmThis is a graduate-level text (or advanced undergrad text), so don't start here; however, the writing style is very clear and crisp. The author approaches Quantum Theory as an algebraic structure built to explain measured phenomena, like Werner Heisenberg. It treats states as vectors and observables as operators on those vectors.
hey jon, a bit out of place to ask this one here, but i have this question that is bugging me. the 3rd law of thermodynamics says that in a perfect crystal the entropy is zero at zero kelvin. now knowing that imperfections exist, can we say that no matter how hard we try to cool a material some value of entropy will remain?is there a lower bound (something something kelvin) on temperature that we won't surpass even with further cooling?
A really great guide for quantum information
University of Nottingham? Does that mean we might see Jonathon Riddell in a 60 Symbols video in the future?
Some good textbook suggestions. I would add any of the introduction textbooks by Griffiths. I think they are great for what they are. I also really liked Sakurai as well for more advanced QM.
Please raise the volume level

Nice
Very good explanation Sir
Superbly explained
Nice explanation. Thank You Sir
Thank you Vidya Mitra.. I am beginning to under about statistical thermodynamics more clearly. Thank you also to the professor who have summarised the module in such a easy and effective way.
These professors need to adopt modern teaching attitude which is to being energetic+entertaining, as we know chemistry is most boring among all major sciences, so teacher need some extra efforts to impose chemistry onto the people.
Very nicely explained, thank you
Awesomeness
Thank you mam for this vedio. This is very helpful
share the pdf
Wooowww u r justttt!!! Amazing These type of concepts are also very very important but are rarely discussed.. specially on u tube... Thanks a lottt...and please keep on uploading such things...in future also.. I'll be waiting
This is a great stuff !
gud mam statmach vale to sucide , i aslo take interest in statmach
Mam please Cary on these and upload vedioes timely
Awesome mam,We want you to continue this lecture
Great
