sir i have a Adcom GFP-750 Preamplifier,it has hook ups for front,rear,center red and white inputs but on older adcom amps have 1 rca input above speaker connections,how do i hook it up?

I've used my Adcom system for studio and home stereo for years, gfp555, gft555 and gfa545 running a pair of Klipsch R28-Fs, I get better sound from them than anything else I've ever heard
Adcom was about the most affordable high powered amp that could drive very difficult speaker loads.
Don't laugh - I had an Adcom GTP 400 (tuner/preamp) for over 30 years and just loved it. Clean, clear, good sound-stage, etc. (I'm easily satisfied) Gave it along with some other stuff to my nephew and am now building another very modest system. I'm thinking of an ADCOM GFP 555 for my "new" preamp.
I have an Adcom GFA-2 that I bought used from Recycled Audio in Boulder back in 1990. It was my first high-end piece that I coupled with an Onkyo pre-amp my dad gave me for my college setup. It's the only piece of vintage gear I've kept and still use. It's still a great-sounding amp w/ 100W/CH and just the right amount of warmth with little noise.
Thanks for the background on Adcom Paul. Very interesting. I'm old enough to have fond memories of the company and their amps in particular (I owned the GFA535 and 555). Adcom offered value in the form of entry level high end priced for the rest of us. It's a shame they went away...
I first seen a adcom amp in a stereo store back in the 80s and the sales person said it would jump start a car, but I could not ever afford to buy one, then they disappeared. Also they claimed the amp was able to reproduce a higher octive compared to other amps.
In the 90s reading Stereo Review, I was debating either Adcom or Carver. Both looked good for the money. Chose Carver and was very happy. Why the decision? I called Adcom twice only to ask where in So Cal that I could find their products locally. They were the rudest people Id ever come across. So glad I never gave them a penny.
The Adcom website is still up and selling products. Not sure if its legit but it looks like theres some special edition amps of older models.

I was recently given a adcom gfa-555. i have no idea what i'm going to do with it. Anyone have any suggestions? says 200w to 8 ohms a channel. holy smokes. I don't think any of my house speakers will handle that!!!
Hey Paul,There's an interesting twist to the Adcom story you missed. Long ago, a fella named Drew Kaplan (DAK Inc.) who was mail order selling really good magnetic tape, mostly cassette for a pretty good price. He had several other unique gadgets sold along with this and for a short while, a few replacement parts for Dynaco amps/preamps.Later he began marketing a limited run series of stereo amps/preamps that apparently were the fore runners/predecessors to Adcom via his store. He made a big deal of the killer specs, being all American made with mostly American parts. The specs and photos in his mail order catalogs were EXACTLY the same as what hit the market later known as Adcom. Same-o, same-o? I think so.I will say this,,, I HATED the sound of CD players available throughout the early 80's compared to good LP's and good cartridges. Sure, CD's were clean, no pops, clicks of LP's but lacked in musicality. Sounded harsh, brittle, too much digital glare regardless of cost or manf. That is until I heard the Adcom GCD 575 CD player. Finally, all the promises of CD's could be appreciated!!! 40 years later it's still sounding wonderful attached to a Harmon Kardon receiver as my garage/workshop music source.I've some additional stories, experiences with Adcom.Carver, NAD and several much modified Dynaco tube and solid state amps that are too lengthy for here.

Bought my GFA 6000 used back in the 90's for $400.00 still powers my main system today.
I sold Adcom products early on. The GFA 1 amp. The Adcom people explained to me that GFA stood for "Great Fu*king Amp. The early ones were anything but that. They blew themselves up left and right. . Can't remember what it was causing the to blow up. That was a LONG time ago. Obviously they fixed that issue in the 545's, 555's etc.
I own an Adcom GTP 500 II and I love it. The thing sounds great and is built extremely well.
Gfa 555 was a beast
