Hello, PH315-53-73J5 Acer Helios Predator 300, 6gb graphic card 2060 RTX, 16GB RAM, 512SSD, Full High Definition, 1920 x 1080, 144Hz. I got a camera and drone that shoots in 4k and i wanna do some video and photo editing. I don't think i'll always use 4k as this creates large files and takes longer etc, but is it worth buying a 4k monitor given me laptop spec, or only full hd? I was looking at a cheaper dell 4k model.

Here I am two years later and this laptop is such garbage. Constant throttle while gaming. The membrane under the keyboard get so hot that the W key gets stuck and my character keeps moving forward. Undervolting doesn't help anymore, it still throttles. And no I'm not going to open it up and put new paste on the CPU. This is supposed to be a gaming laptop but it isn't in practice. The only way I can play team fortress 2 (lowest possible settings and it looks like minecraft) is going to a cold room with the radiators off. CPU is 60c just writing this comment. I really hate this laptop and I will never buy anything from Acer again. I will never buy a laptop again for gaming, that's for sure. My advice is to never buy a laptop to play any games other than solitare type of games, unless you absolutely have no choice. A desktop is cheaper, faster, more quiet.

Do not even bother with this piece of crap. Under powered fan. Nothing EVER goes smoothly with this stupid piece of junk. Honestly look at other reviews online before buying. It's disgusting. The laptop should've been recalled and fixed but instead they just decided to scam 1000's and 1000's of people by making them pay over $2000 for a gaming laptop that struggles to play games on the lowest graphic settings possible. Can't even set up a live stream. Trying to add a display capture on OBS or Streamlabs just constantly shows a black screen. Look up the problem on forums and there's so many people having the same issue with this exact same laptop and there's no one that's fixed the issue. It's a joke. Try and complain to Acer and they just palm you off to a call center that tries help with basic trouble shooting and not fixing the problem. It's a waste of time.

Before asking this question I have made researches and did not find an appropriate answer. I hope someone could help. My laptop model is Acer predator helios 300 ph315-51-78np with 16gb ram and 256ssd (windows preinstalled on it). As far as I know, the max SSD capacity for this model is 512gb. So my question is: I want to remove (rid of) this SSD with preinstalled windows on it, cause I cannot delete windows, and replace it with one 512gb Samsung SSD. Would it somehow hurt the system? Because graphic cards and other stuff installed exactly on the windows system. I am going to install Linux on the new 512gb SSD. If the first option is not preferable, are there any other ways to solve this issue? My target is just to remove default 256gb Intel SSD and replace it with high-quality 512gb SSD like Samsung Evo or Crucial MX500, etc and install Linux on it. The perfect option is: remove Intel default 256gb SSD and replace it with 512gb SSD (Crucial/Samsung) + 1tb SSHD Seagate FireCuda

Great review! ive got the predator helios 300 PH315 and it has the 1050 Ti Recently its started showing graphics driver not supported errors on launch in newer games (red dead 2, DOOM eternal). PCGameBenchMark says i should be able to play these games, any tips?

Gtx 1060 is not good anymore. In red dead redemption 2, it will only give 55fps on a 144hz which sucks besides 1060 6gb only need 120hz.

I saw your review on this helios 300 and bought my laptop and it's almost 3 years since I bought it, I'm planning for an SSD and ram upgrade of my laptop right now, and I need a suggestion from you, whether, can I upgrade this system's SSD if so how to install it? I would love to hear from you on this issue.

I rarely experience lag or slow speed. The material is made from decent metal and decent plastic. I like the look of the red and black theme. I reckoned this gaming laptop since it was the best pc I have ever owned period.*
I saw this thing and the Nitro 5 at $905 on Amazon (sale). Both of them were the i7-8750h, gtx 1050ti models with 256 gig ssd's. I got the Nitro 5 one day before the predator dropped down to 900 dollars too! I just decided to keep the Nitro 5 then. I'm loving it so far. A CPU undervolt helped a lot with the thermals.

I have a helios 300 gtx 1660 ti and it's great. Temperatures are amazing as well as performance for the price. I recently uploaded some gameplay footage of cyberpunk on the laptop, if you want to see how it performs (even though the game isnt well optimized yet )
I bought this laptop because of your reviews. It has been amazing! A great laptop. Everyone will feel satisfied with it. If you are looking and thinking about buying it, there are some aspects that you should consider: -The fan noise is quite high. However, if you are going to game alone in your room or studio this does not matter. It could be distracting for other people if they are working in the same workspace. -It gets hot. You can feel in the middle of the keyboard if you are running something taxing for your laptop. In my case, this just applies to Path of Exile. League of Legends, Starcraft 2, CSGO, and Rocket League are fine. Rendering videos is fine but still takes a while. -It has not too much space in the disk. However, just buy a SSD nvme m.2 and you will be fine. I got a Crucial P2 SSD. The installation can be done by anyone. Even if you never opened your laptop before or have no experience with that, it is really easy. Just open the laptop and plug it in without touching anything more with your screwdriver. -The battery does not last long. My laptop is always connected so this is not a problem for me. -I had some troubleshooting with the camera specifically while using Zoom. Besides this. This is a monster for the price, I do not regret buying it, and I am glad & happy with my purchase.

Just to let everyone know, it's is much better than any of the ASUS TUF laptops by a mile. ACER is a true competitor giving you quality for a fair price while other manufacturers try to jip you. Otherwise, get a Lenovo or Razer. My daughter has the Predator Helios 300 PH315-52-75DE that has the RTX 2060. I had cloned Windows 10 from the slow 512MB m.2 to a 1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO NVMe m.2 using EaseUS Partition or EaseUS Todo Backup and added 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD into the empty compartment. With 2 m.2 slots you could do RAID 1, 0. Instead of storing all the new data onto the SSD got a WD 2TB Easystore external USB Hard drive. Be cautious about using the Turbo button, some people complained it damaged their laptop. Adjust Fan Speed in the BIOS or use MSI Afterburner. The Predator is a 2019 TOP 3 mid level gaming laptop , meaning it is one of the best of the year. Touchpad is sensitive and works great. The Power brick does get hot.
