Hi, Father Chris. You obtained very nice, saturated colors in your sample photos. Would you mind telling us which of the Fuji color recipes and other settings you used to obtain these? Thank you./Warren
Which is better, 18mmf2 or 27mmf2.8
lmao, and sony lenses are cheap as hell? no one's crying about those.
i wonder how well this baby do in 2020
"not a very creative lens." What does that mean, exactly? No lens is "creative."
Perhaps you meant "Doesn't impose wide-angle or telephoto distortions on your pictures."
Man as of today this lens costs $449.00 USD https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/984430-REG/fujifilm_16389123_fujinon_xf_27mm_f_2_8.html
The xf35mm f1.4 costs $50 more. Hmmmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I just picked this lens up second hand for my X-T4
Kamlan manual 28mm f 1.4 kills this one for video at least
Which do you think would suffice pretty much most of your needs in the budget category of Fujinon lenses? I'd love to get the 23 pancake lens, the the XC version of the 35mm f2 is also pretty tempting. The same image quality and optics but half the price, and all you have to sacrifice is the metal body and weather resistance?! I think it is worth buy tbh 🤔. But I do however love the look of that 23mm. Both are almost the same price, with the 23mm a lil bit more expensive. Ughhh it's so had when you're broke Haha.
Hi, Im new in photography and looking at getting a FuiFilm camera - perhaps x-pro2 - you mentioned here that this lense isnt very creative - can you recommend any lenses that would be a bit more creative, perhaps in both wide and macro categories? Cheers
So it is not a good Lens?
OK, great video thank but how do I easily set the aperture on my camera, it keeps moving and I need it to sit on F11
Bought a copy today, mine reads made in Thailand on the sticker though. My copy is super sharp in the centre but soft on the edges at f2.8. Crazy hey! Great review mate. Regards from Australia.
Why are fujis some very vital lenses so noisy? I need a fast lens f1. 4 within 35-50mm equivalent but all the choices are suck. 23, 35 and this one. On the other hand the f2 version of this range of lenses are quite better than f1. 4 version in terms of auto focus sound.
A very noisy lens, i sold it away for S$190 cause hate to hear the motor moving sound!
160 pounds today, 05/05/2020
Nice video, congrats ! At the end of the video, you say that this lens « is not a very creative lens ». What do you mean exactly ? That this lens has not this « magic » that has the 35mm 1.4 for exemple ? Thanks in advance :)
This review (and many others) are a perfect example of why you should never make a buying decisions based on image quality tests. The images shown here are superb, but the chart tests are bad? Really? Who cares? The images are beautiful, that is all that matters. So tired of these image quality tests, so boring. Photography is an art, if you can't paint with it then you are not an artists, you are an image tester.
Shame on Fuji that they still havent produced second version of this lens with faster AF and less noisy motor! Thats what i dont understand - to go mirroless, to position as street photography cameras and still do not have a quality lens to match with their great cameras for streets - small, fast and quiet. Both 18 nd 27 (the most desirable length) are good but already so much outdated! 23mm is great but you can hardly call it small.... it almost like my zoom 18-55 f2,8-4 ... new 16mm f2,8 is great - small, fast but rather too wide... comon Fuji, just do it, we know you can! (since you've done it for X100f! )))))
Apparently there was some last minute price changes from what I was told. The Body is actually $849usd and $1100cad and the kit is $1350cad but still $1050usd Sorry for the confusion.
Very Leica like without the grip! I ordered it to replace my X-T30 as a backup to my X-T3 and to use as a compact everyday/travel camera.
Good iAF test, unseen in other review videos
Can I get the old one on discount now?😍
Is the noise of the lens and the shutter a deal breaker? Also what about the flip screen ribbon??
AF sound is still too loud. Disappointing ...
So really why I will spending all this money for the Xt4 🤔 if they have all same image quality?
Thanks for the 27mm review. Really wish they would fix that focus motor noise, but at least it's sharper and WR now...
That hand grip looks fugly. Someone needs to make one similar to the add on grip for Leica’s.
This camera is wrong in so many ways. 🙁 hopefully the lens is faster focusing on my old Fuji. Looking forward to comparisons of the 27 1 Vs 2 on Xtrans 2 cameras, sounds promising so far. The optics are unchanged.
A lot of Fuji Reviewers on Youtube seem to just not be good photographers so it's refreshing to see someone review with actually dynamic and engaging photos to their name.
Very nice and informative 'first look' at the camera & lens. Will test it out in more detail very soon myself :-)
i'm planning to switch from my canon 6d to this: think it'll be worth it? i'll be mainly using the x-e4 for street, landscape & portrait photography
Sat here with my X-Pro1 and X70 hoping for an update to the X70 hahaha. Sweet review man!
Good review. I used to have the old xf27 and I sold it after using it for like one week. I do like its size but image quality of the old one is too soft. The new one increased its sharpness but it remains with its old noisy motor, which leaves me wondering whether I should buy the new one.
as a X-E3 user, I was hoping for an E4. Hoped for an articulating LCD and a WR body. The design is great, the LCD is great
Love that they removed the autoswitch of the E3, hate that Fuji removed the wheel on the back.
Nice to get a new 27mm, but why offer this with a non-WR body?
Stick to my non-WR E3 with the non-WR 27mm. Dissappointed, maybe I need to switch to X100V
Ugh... Very disappointed Fujifilm.
The IQ is fantastic, but like give me a break with the trash video performance and vintage autofocus motor!?! F**k!? Why? Like take my money already, Fuji... 😭💸📷 Can't they see that most of us just wanted something to go with our 23mm f2 that was more portable; then it gets really sad when you think about the forthcoming 18mm... Who is that lens for, exactly?!? It's HUGE!!
It's safe to say that we just want the same thing as the 23mm in 18mm and 27mm!? A modern, svelte, quiet autofocusing, weatherproof champ of a lens... Not some giant 28mm equivalent for weddings only, or a lens that feels like it is just disappointing as soon as you press down the AF and hear yesterday's gears whirring inside.
Wouldn't be caught with that giant update to the 18mm thing on the street, and after the underwhelming renovation of the 27mm, quite frankly I don't want to buy that pupper anymore either. It's sad for Fuji because I would like to buy some lenses (especially at those focal lengths) and I am sure I am not the only one who doesn't want to shell out $1699 for a 28mm for street photography.
fLOG for video n this camera Lee?
So how do you get access to the ISO?
I can't wait to get one!😍
This lens is 0.9 inches in depth and weighs 84g. I completely botched these numbers in the recording and believe me, I will hold myself responsible for this error. Bad Gajan!
Thank you to all those that brought this to my attention.
Does X-E4 overheat while shooting videos and Live streaming using 4k Camlink?
The 27 Gen 1 lives on my Pro3. The size, weight, and focal length is almost perfect for the streets of Portland. With the added WR and ease of adjusting aperture, the Gen 2 is an almost certain buy given the sodden nature of the Pacific NW.
I have the 16, 23, 35 and 50 primes, but I’m interested in this lens (27mm MK-II) for its form factor, can you tell me if the front element moves in and out when focusing like the 60mm macro f/2.4 (it’s very noisy). Thank you.
27mm on order with my local camera shop. 40mm is my favorite on my Leica/Bessa film rangefinders. Loving Fuji cameras. Got the Xpro 3 and within 2 weeks picked up the Xt4 for my wife.
No question I love the ‘pancakeness’ of this lens. Just makes my Fuji’s even more compact. But I also really love the 27mm (40mm) focal length. Not so wide as the 23/35, not so up close and personal as the 35/50. In short, just right. With the 23 and 35mm Focal lengths, people are partly allowing habits and traditions to inhibit their vision. Plus, if I remember correctly, it has a really close focus distance. And, yeah, great to finally have that exposure ring on the lens itself.
I’ve been struggling between the 27mm 2.8 + XT3 vs X100v. Anyone have any Insights for an everyday camera solution? (I already own the 23 1.4 & 35mm speed master)
I’ve heard that the 40mm focal length is actually closer to what the human eye sees than a 35mm or a 50mm. So do what you want with that information 😂✌🏽
Looking forward to comparisonsmof the 27 1 Vs 2 on Older cameras.
i want a 23mm f1.4 with the sharpness of the 56mm.
Haha, M&Ms shot. Are you saying this lens is "eye candy" ;)
I'm a fan of this lens. But I also want a 27mm f/1.2
looking for your review of the new 27mm lens. My old one sat in my bag because it didn't have the aperture ring.
Hey Gajan have you had a chance to consider whether the new 27 mm is preferable for street photography than the 23 f2 which I know you really like? I used to have the 23mm f2 but sold it to try the f1.4 version but regretted it for weight and no advantage for street shots around f5.6 to f8? :)
Is this lens stabilized?
I love 40mm focal length. First tried it with the Lumix 20mm 1.7.
Thanks! I love 40mm ff equivalent lenses, I used mine a lot in my Canon days, it's as close as it gets to cinema, but I missed the aperture ring on the Fuji's 27, so this new iteration is perfect for me
I wish they had improved the close focus, then it would be a slam dunk.
i love 40mm lenses also in point and shoot cameras like Leica Minilux
:) and have this one in ver 1 :)
I love the 27mm for me its the perfect focal length
I have XH1. Is this lens a good option to use with XH1
This thing's the boss on the X-E1. Super compact, out of the way. IQ is fantastic.
I owned this lens then sold it and then bought it again! I have now decided that I really do like it. Thanks for the video.
love your sample photo! found this review v helped to buy my first prime lens for xe-3
Nice review. But as a former trauma surgeon, I have to ask you...don't drive and do other things. Just don't.
This lens is great for traveling.
Aperture to the focus ring... Give this man a medal. How come I never thought of that. All camera manufacturers should incorporate that option since a large majority of users rarely use manual focus
The photo of the guy giving you the victory sign on the escalator (3:45), if it was a second or two later and the V was on the lighter background, that would have been a killer shot! Love the photos on the platform. I also love the 40mm focal length and this lens is on my list.
The son of Clancy Brown?
I've been debating this lens for a while and for some reason, I keep putting it off. After watching, I'm convinced. Thank you, you have a new sub!
Fujifilm XE2 and 27mm f2.8.. what do u think?
Would you recommend this lens for the Fuji X-A2?
I have seen this lens being used on many other Fujis kits, but not the X-A2
Thanks for your time.
Great content. New sub!
I picked this up to pair with my X-Pro1 and love it for how compact and easy to carry all day.
Amazing photos. This is the only video that convinced me to buy the lens myself because you really showed off the strength of 27mm. You should have way more views!
Nice photographs! Can you please do a review of the 23mm 1.4 with samples 🙏
Thanks for share, great video, nice pictures :-)
